MY TWENTY ELEVEN – A RECAP

As they would say: “Another year has gone to the history books”! Bye 2011 and welcome 2012!!!!

During my tender years, I can’t easily get over with the negative vibes I had been with; it will always linger on my thoughts day after day, which scared me a lot to venture into something new. Though, until today I must admit the fear is still there but I would say, the length of time has helped me. I was able to somehow manage my fear; it is because my FAITH in HIM is stronger than my fear. Thus, I am now able to look back the past year with a grateful heart!

Here I go, the highlights of my twenty eleven:

JANUARY

Oftentimes in a QUIZ BEE competition during my elementary years this question will surely have a slot: “What is the summer capital of the Philippines?”

Before, I only knew about this place in my geography books, in post cards, and in television shows, until Jan 18, 2011 when I was given the chance to touch down – BAGUIO!-

thanks Baguio I was given a chance to ride a horsey the great...hehehe -)

Big thanks to our Annual Business Meeting, if not because of it, I might still be wondering  how cold it is Baguio! And KUDOS to our Big Boss for he let us enjoy what this summer capital can offer! Beautiful parks and of course I must not forget their STRAWBERRIES! so happy like a child when I saw them in real.haha!

FEBRUARY

My birthday!!!yahooo! I celebrated my silver anniversary on earth! Though I did not celebrate it with a blast but happy enough for all the gifts I received from God! I wasn’t been rushed to ER again, therefore my stamina is stronger now and was the given the chance to once in a while indulge with some late night out with friends without a second thought!

APRIL

Hello Summer!!!! One of the most memorable summers I ever had. It is when tribuletz from Tribu Subakanon gather together once again for our first Summer Outing!!!!beach..beach…

MAY

Finally, my dream to acquire tv set come true! ( hmm..i’m so mababaw on this part) after four long years of working I reward myself with a tv set!hehe

SEPTEMBER

And I'm singing into the tune of : All I need is a vacation, vacation .. a break from I forgot who sung this line.!
Credits to our annual vacation leave , I was able to visit place where my umbilical cord is buried!Welcome to our very own mountainous-home of the only Siloy in the whole wide world, the town of ALCOY!

i miss this kind of stuff-had to climb a mountain to fetch water & wash clothes

at our late grandparents place,so grateful to our dear lolo & lola, now we are reaping the fruits of their labor!Kudos to our Lolo Insik & Lola Rosa, big thanks for these coconuts!:-)

my darling sisters at the South Bus Terminal on our to way Alcoy :-)

my dearest cousin Jonnie carrying what we called as :"BUKAG" w/ young coconuts inside!guess our lolo & lola are smiling looking at us during this time.their once playful apos are now all grown ups!how time flies, isn't it!.

the chapel where I used to attend catechizes & flores de mayo back in my gums & lollipop days:-) our daycare classes was also held in this chapel way back long, long time ago.

"TINGGAROL" as we call it -this used to be my companion during study nights back in my elementary days! our electricity at home was cut off when we were there on a vacation, so I was able to be with this night in shining armor again :-)#buhay promdi mode is actually ON!-SARRRRAAAP!

So there it goes, my supah fabulous, grand vacation galore on a September!!! Indeed, there's no place like home!

NOVEMBER

This is when we moved to a new boarding house with all of my sisters. Thanks to our very dear landlady, I and my sisters are now in one roof.

It is also in this month when these TS beauties visit my new boarding house. My first ever visitor! Ms TS 2011!!

DECEMBER

My super favorite month! Blessings are left and right on this month. Aside from the bonuses, more than anything else is the immaterial things I received. Praise to God! It is also the time when we were complete as a family celebrating Christmas, well less my mother since she already has her own family now.

Dec. 23, 2011 – It is TRIBU SUBAKANON 2nd CHRISTMAS GALA NIGHT! Also the day I met my ATE ANNE!:-)

Yet my TWENTY ELEVEN isn't that rewarding in terms of career, I am still very grateful for in other aspects of my journey I can proudly say I am so blessed! So, as I turned to another page of my journey, it is a good way to start anew recounting all the blessings received. Thank you God for giving me all this wonderful gifts!

Goodbye TWENTY - ELEVEN and wish me Good luck for the next page of the journey!

TRIBU SUBAKANON AND ITS EVENTFUL ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION - October 28, 2011

Who would have thought we could go this far - keeping the friendship behind distance, differences in beliefs and outlook in life?

And after all those pressures that we’ve been through, it is with great pride to celebrate our First Year Anniversary as Tribuletz in our very own TRIBU SUBAKANON WORLD.

As the celebration went on,  marks its first year of sharing smiles, laughter, sorrows, joys, anything and everything under the sun; a series of contests were performed via online … here it goes;

GAME 1: a game sponsored by our very dear Ms. Em Tulang from the land of Elephants-THAILAND!
dai Em for game 1:
” unsa para nimo ang atong grupo “Tribu Subakanon”. (What does Tribu Subakanon group stands for you?)"
*there were at least five entries for the said competition and it was “Mr. Agapito Uraca or simply our “Kuya Ags” who emerged the winner with his definition that goes:
“para nako ang tribu subakanon usa ka grupo sa social network nga diin magka ila ila ang mga nag kalain laing personalidad nga pilipino nga naa sa lain laing nasod.og diin sila maka abi abi og maka share sa ilang mga gebati og makaila og laing mga higala aron lang mawala ang kamingaw.”-KUYA AGS
(“for me, Tribu Subakanon is a group in social network where Filipinos with different personalities wherever they may be around the globe gathered in one place to meet new friends and get-to-know each other, share feelings and emotions so to ease lonesomeness or homesickness”)
GAME 2:” Definition of each letter in the word “TRIBU SUBAKANON” sponsored from the LAND DOWN UNDER – MS. JANE JANICE RALEIGH
Ms. Jane Janice Raliegh w/ her cute baby Jas:
Out of eleven entries submitted, it was this simple yet a definition that speaks it all by Ms. Gia Marie J. that bowed down our heads:

T – Tribe of
R – Realism and
I – Idealism in
B – Building
U – Union of friendship

S – Symbol of
U – Unity
B – Beauty
A – Acquaintanceship
K – Kindness
A – Acceptance
N – Nobleness
O – Openness that
N – Never ends …

GAME 3: “SLOGAN MAKING CONTEST FOR TRIBU SUBAKANON”
Still sponsored by Ms. Janice Jane Raliegh (or simply our “Metring J” inside the tribe), won by Mr. Joseph Torres and eventually became TS motto.

“Tribu Subakanon –
One Tribe. Different People.
Different belief. One Goal.
“We Are One"

GAME 4: MISSION – VISION OF TRIBU SUBAKANON – a contest that signifies us as a tribe and could lead us ahead in this journey so called life …. still sponsored by our dear “Metring J.”
Mission

To implement the good ethics in life to become a better individual through the ideals of respect, love, compassion and humility so as to promote peace and unity.

Vision -

By its prospect, Tribu Subakanon will be a group of innovative individual unified with great aspiration and united with one Faith, one God Almighty.
*the winning entry of Ms. Abby Gail Avanzano*

And for the finale of our month long anniversary celebration here comes our first ever – THE SEARCH FOR MR. & MS. TS 2011.

Meet our lovely, dashing candidates:

After thorough evaluation of the candidates from swimwear, casual, formal and question& answer portion, finally our search is over. Ladies and gentlemen our very own first Mr. & Ms. TS 2011:

TRIBU SUBAKANON – A YEAR AFTER

As mentioned in my previous blog, Tribu Subakanon was founded last October 28, 2010, time does fly unnoticed, and I am very proud to say that we are now celebrating our FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY!  Congratulations to each and every tribuletz (as we call ourselves) and good luck for the years beyond! But wait, how is Tribu Subakanon a year after?

Tribu Subakanon world is still very much the same; its inhabitants still meet online, sharing joy and laughers and useful or educational information as well. Though some of its original tribuletz choose to be outside tribu’s arms, the friendship that binds us is still very much intact and getting stronger as we get to know each other well.

*some of the unforgettable tribuletz moments*

For a year we’ve been together for all those special days that we can join hand in hand to celebrate the moment. And it was Christmas that was the most unforgettable to me so far. What made it memorable? It was simply the first time when we seemed to be under the spell—the friendship which unites us, come together, and share that precious moment. Such works of a genuine friendship!

After a year of sharing genuine online friendship as a tribe, we now have a more concrete definition of what Tribu Subakanon stands for, it’s meaning in our own individual lives, and the essence of this tribe in the online community.

Thus we now define Tribu Subakanon as:

T – Tribe of
R – Realism and
I – Idealism in
B – Building
U – Union of friendship

S – Symbol of
U – Unity
B – Beauty
A – Acquaintanceship
K – Kindness
A – Acceptance
N – Nobleness
O – Openness that
N – Never ends …

….with a Mission that states:
“To implement the good ethics in life to become a better individual through the ideals of respect, love, compassion and humility so as to promote peace and unity.”

…and vision that says:

“By its prospect, Tribu Subakanon will be a group of innovative individual unified with great aspiration and united with one Faith, one God Almighty.”

Once again happy birthday Tribu Subakanon! And happy 1st anniversary tribuletz! Kudos everyone! I am very much proud to be a part of this online group who now live by it’s motto:

Tribu Subakanon –
One Tribe. Different People.
Different belief. One Goal.
We Are One"

MY WOODEN YEAR @ HOS!

Looking back….

I was a study now pay later scholar way back in college at Asian College of Technology, taking up BS Computer Science, unfortunately, I only finished a year since I no longer had resources to pursue my studies, and I already consumed my credit line from school. I then decide to look for a job, but then it wasn’t that easy. There was a point when I even applied at a certain agency as domestic helper for Manila.

Then, September 2006 come, after 5 months of searching I received a call from HOS Corporation where I applied as service crew for my interview. It was September 2, 2006 to be exact when Maam Dianne Pascua called me up for my interview by the following day September 3, 2011. (I took it as a blessing in disguise since I was partly heartbroken at that time.)

To shorten the story, it was in September 6, 2006 when I started as trainee as service crew @ Hotdog on Sticks – Robinsons Place Cebu and was trained by Mayolyn Mandado. And it was on October 24, 2006 when I was officially hired as service crew at HOS CEBU!

My deepest gratitude to HOS Corporation for making some of my dreams into reality! Most of all to Sir Andy (de Leon) and Sir Rene as well for believing in my capability. I wasn't able to finish a degree but still they gave me this break. And was given the chance to roam around some parts of the Philippines! ( and letting me ride an airplane! haahahhahahaha!). I never thought I would last this long, couldn't count no more how many P.I  I received, but then still  here I am as solid as a wood still part of this company that fed me and my family for five years now as well as mold me as a better person.

My journey in this company may not have been a bed of roses, still I am very much grateful for those experiences, for without that I wouldn't who I am now. A little lady of confidence and courage ,though it may not be in all aspect but I must say I grew up.To everyone I met, and I've known like Maam Jo Plariza - who back then trained and formed my mind for admin works, including some HR functions ( proud to say..heheh), Maam Mie - who was there at the crucial moment of my employment @ HOS.Thank you so much!

It would be a great pleasure if in the next 5 years, I will still be here, however if it would be the other way around, Hotdog on Sticks will always have a special place in my heart!

"To my great God! thank you very much, for always being there with me and for answering my prayers. You truly is an AMAZING GOD!!!<3<3<3 "

HAPPY 5th year Anniversary to me!!!!!! Tibay mo teh!!!!

To the Woman I Ever Love

Life may have not been so kind to us
Our ties may have been stained by indefference
Still it doesn't belittle the woman you are to me
For I wouldn't be who I am today
If you didn't carry me inside for nine months long

We may choose to be in different directions
And that dark clouds hinder our sight
One thing for sure, I will be always here
Waiting for that woman I ever love

Happy birthday Mama!

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY: A PART OF ME WAS A PIECE OF YOU

A tribute to my mentors who have great impact in me.

It was my childhood dream to become a teacher. During my younger years or during my primary education, in almost every classroom you can read this line: “Be proud you are a teacher, the future depends in you”. Isn’t that a pride? Back then I would always play the teacher in our game with my cousins, I love checking their papers and put 100 as their mark.

As I grow up I realized how difficult it is to be a teacher, most especially if you are assigned in the mountain barangays like ours way back years ago, where there was only one passenger jeep that goes to town every Friday, therefore a teacher in our barangay could only spend Saturdays & Sundays at their home, technically you will leave your family behind. And such is a great sacrifice! I, then change my plan.

Top mentors who had helped me build my identity and my dreams:

  1. Mrs Deirdre Romarate Arias or simply our Maam Indai

She was my school adviser back in grade three and six. I thought after graduation our connection will stop there, but it didn’t. She helped us (top 5 in our class) apply for a scholarship program at a certain mining company in our town. She was really hands on with it, from our examination then to our interview. She shoulders all the expenses for our requirements and our food also when we stayed in their house prior to examination and interview. Luckily two of us pass the examination & interview and enjoyed the scholarship in high school (among the top 5 in our class, only three of us applied the scholarship).A big thank you Maam Indai. J

    2. Sir Proceso Arias or Sir Procy

He was my fourth grade adviser who taught or shall I say give me an idea about computer, when I decided I don’t want to be a teacher anymore when I grow up.

One time in our English class on my fourth grade, we were told to write about our ambition in life for our formal theme. I thought, I don’t wanna be a teacher anymore, so I ask my teacher: Sir Proceso Arias what kind of profession that deals with computer ( note: I haven’t seen one yet that time, only heard it in a radio), then he said just write their computer programming. Without any knowledge of what course is, I wrote I want to be a computer programmer. (Sadly, I wasn’t able to realize that dream, but I did take up Computer Science when I studied in college.)

  1. Maam Marijean Inion

My class adviser when I was a sophomore student. It was a struggle year for me; it was when our family was on the rocks. There were times when I am physically present in her discussion but mentally absent. Thank God she was very understanding to me.

  1. Maam Leonarda Ompoc

My teacher in my first grade. Way back in grade one, I was really hard headed, and the most talkative in class but when asked to read so quite (unfortunately because I don’t know how to read..hehe). She really disciplined not only me but the whole class. Now as I look back I am astonished of her technique in handling pupils; imagine teaching two levels in the same classroom. True! She handled grade one and 2 at that time. After our afternoon meal, we are not allowed to play outside, commanded us to practice reading, the grade two pupils will teach the grade one.

Thank you for that discipline Maam Ompoc!

I must say, I was so blessed to have them as my teacher who does not only taught us with our school lessons but also encourage us to dream by sharing us their life and what they had been through to become our teacher. Thanks for that inspiration, it was indeed a great help especially to me. Living in a mountain barangay is no heaven, for us to be in school we had to walk at least 2km everyday, but we made it through the help of our dearest teachers.

HAPPY TEACHERS’ MONTH! A STANDING OVATION TO ALL OF YOU!
